THE ECONOMISTS’ DECLARATION ON UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE

Larry Summers and The Rockefeller Foundation have convened 267 economists to call on policymakers to prioritize UHC as an essential pillar of economic development. The signatories represent 44 countries and include Thomas Piketty, Linah Mohohlo, Joseph Stiglitz, and Paul Collier, and many other leading economic thinkers. The argument in their Economists’ Declaration on Universal Health Coverage is simple: UHC makes economic sense. They declare that all countries have the opportunity to achieve universal health coverage and should prioritize reforms and investments toward it. To read the Declaration, please click here.

The Declaration has been published in The Lancet – the full text is available here, and the list of signatories can be found here.

We are grateful for beeing a partner in this global coalition for universal health coverage.
